Dinghies: 2010 Preview

After this long winter and the hurricane series at Stithians where we only managed to sail 3 out of 8 races, I expect you’re all really looking forward to the start of the 2010 Dinghy season. Well done to Adam who just edged Roger off the podium at Stithians to win the series. This year’s racing programme kicks off with the Weekend Spring Series on Sunday 4th April at 11:00 and the Thursday Spring Series on 15th April at 18:30. The full 2010 dinghy programme and entry forms are on the website.

If launching yourself into racing seems a bit daunting, why not come along to our Tuesday night adult sailing evenings, where all levels of ability are catered for. Adult sailing begins in May, when hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer. You may want to learn to sail, or take it a bit further. As part of the adult training programme we have some funding from the RYA to run a 2 day Start Racing Course, date to be confirmed. This is aimed at any member who would like to begin racing but has little or no experience. Also, the excellent race training sessions we started last year will be continuing on Tuesday evenings led by some of our experienced dinghy racers who are doing a 2 day Club Race Coach Course at Stithians this spring. I am looking forward to benefitting from their knowledge. If you are interested in joining in with any of these activities please contact Beccy Kestin or Colin Brown.
