Do you go cruising?

As a cruising member of the HRSC last summer having spoken to other owners on the Helford River I started a local group for cruising yacht owners. A cruising get together on the water had been talked about among us from the beginning of the 2010 season, on Saturday 11th September thirteen sailors on eight yachts met on the Turnaware pontoon, on the Fal River. In the evening we all enjoyed a Bar-B-Q, drinks, cruising quiz and chat about cruising well into the evening, the next day sailing together back to Helford taking photos of each others boats on the way. In late September I started a Yahoo group called Helford River Cruisers (a chat room for local cruising yachts). From this group a cruising social was arranged at the Harbour Inn, Porthleven on the 29th of October and ten sailors came.

If you like to cruise your yacht around the world, across the channel, out to Scilly, up the coast or just day sail, would you like to join in with our group? I know as cruisers, we like to go where we like, when we like, but its sometime nice to know where others cruise too. The plan is to have a cruise in company one or two times in a season and two socials in the winter months. On Friday 25th of March there was another social this time held at the Gweek Inn, with 23 sailors attending representing 13 yachts. A great evening was had by all with some discussion on cruising together in 2011.
