I am sure it is always good to hear about the success of former members. And in this case it is one who first set foot in a boat of any sort as an 8 yr old Junior member about 25 years ago! Martin (and his younger brother, Steven) were regulars at the Friday evening sessions for Junior learners in the fleet of Mirror dinghies that taught them as much about maintenance as it did actual sailing. Martin went on to sail in the Sunday morning dinghy races in his Laser through the early 90′s before going to University in Cardiff. Whilst at Cardiff he continued his sailing and became Chairman of the University Sailing Club, and was awarded full colours for sailing. He has continued to sail in yachts and dinghies whenever he has the opportunity and has for a few years now been racing a Laser 4000 when he can fit it in to his schedule. At the Laser 4000 European Championship at Lake Garda on 14-17 July, Martin (and his crew) won the European Crown.
