Susanna May Cup 2010

On Sunday June 20th, under blue skies and in warm sunshine, sailors competed for the Susanna May Memorial trophy. The wind blew nicely in all directions forcing the race officers, Adam and Sarah Mason, to set a windward leeward course in the middle of the river. First away was Roger McDonald, hotly pursued once again, by the other Lasers. Slightly further back the rest of the fleet needed to sort themselves out as they all arrived at the first mark together and found little wind to round it. Amongst the leaders once again was Olly Berriman who has really found his form. Also pressurising was Phil Samuel although he was unable to catch Roger McDonald who only seemed to increase the gap as the race progressed and unsurprisingly claimed victory. A welcoming tea awaited competitors in the clubhouse afterwards, courtesy of Fido May, and prizes were awarded by John Jane in Fido’s absence. Start Time: 14:16 | Wind: 0-5 knots cyclonic | Course: Windward/Leeward | Race Officers: S Mason & A Mason
