COMMODORE’S REPORT: Winter 2014

The last few days have finally seen the weather change as we slip into winter having experienced autumn for just a brief moment as the temperatures remained unseasonably high. The majority of the boats have left the moorings and the river is alone again. The amazing summer weather had the Club buzzing with each sailing discipline functioning at its best. The Club’s facilities proved their worth and the balcony remained full throughout and racing and teaching was enjoyed at all levels. However the greatest success this year had to be the dinghy racing. The numbers swelled into double figures for most races and a very keen group of juniors joined the old stalwarts to provide some very enjoyable racing. This could not have happened without the support and dedication of the safety boat crews, so a very special thank you again to all of them.

Our Club Stewards Jack and Sophie, having had a very good summer, feel that they have gained the required experience and knowledge to go it alone and I have to inform you that they will be leaving us at the end of November to run a restaurant in Cadgwith. We have appointed Chris and Janet Conboye as Stewards and they will be starting on 6th December. Please do come along and support them and the Club on club nights and the winter social programme we have planned.

I would like to finish by wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy and successful New Year.
