RS400s lead the Lasers in light airs
Richard Graham-Vivian in light airs laid a Northerly course under the delightful gardens and house of Bosahan which promptly turned easterly for a beam reach across the start line. Seeing a lay line at a perpendicular to the start Brooks decided to sail his proper course by tacking above the RS400s before the committee boat, receiving a verbal clip to the ear for his impertinence.
A fleet of RS400’s and Laser II’s then proceeded to sail in the order they started. McDonald and Kestin finding the faintest of wind where nobody else could stayed at the front to the end.
Fresh from his holiday sailing an armada of dinghies, Phil was pleased to be reacquainted with the curves of his RS400 and repeatedly threatened the lead – but whatever puff McDonald had he wasn’t about to let go.
Bolitho & Berryman stayed with the 400’s but found the holes in the wind between Voose and Bosahan.
It was a pleasure to see young helms & trimmers Ed Hosken & Beks Hosking in Laser II’s directing their fathers’ best efforts to break out of the handicap order but missing a force 4-5 wind necessary to do so.
Results: 1st Roger McDonald, 2nd Phil Philpot, 3rd Ollie Berryman
