There will be flooding rain, and you, O great hailstones, shall fall
A mixed asymmetric and monosail fleet set of under the clubhouse with what felt like spent shotgun pellets peppering them as a large bank of grey passed over head. In their heads, a blanked grey matter technique got starters beyond their quivering lower lips & out to the start of Bosahan. Race stewards Andrew Hosking & daughter Beks battling away during the squall had set a lovely line for a northerly wind. Racers thoroughly enjoyed the beam reach heading to Central at the starting hooter as the wind calmed & switched 90 degrees to west.
McD and B&B in the RS400’s were to force the early pace in a fading breeze on an ebbing tide. Gusts dithered between W and NW across river from Gew to Toll allowing a long beat with an occasional tack back to Bosahan. A couple of laps in the RS200 put Josh Redgrave and Emily Broad firmly in contention amongst the 400’s to finish second under par for their class but laggards B&B & Brooks slipping to 3 & 5.5% above par for the 400 and Laser Radial.
Messer’s Greensmith & Brandreth in safety were relieved their charges had maintained their seasons unblemished capsize record, the only real excitement provided by a becalmed B&B plucked to safety before an impending grounding by current above Voose rocks.
