L’Aber Wrac’h 2016
“Twenty five boats set out on Friday 24th June for L’Aber Wrac’h in a fresh SW breeze making for a fast crossing. The previous evening participating crews and members celebrated at the Champagne Reception where a good time was had by all. Crews received excellent hospitality on arrival in L’Aber Wrac’h and Carol Lawrence worked her magic in collating the results and prizes. Winning Boat ‘Farsteo’ – Monsieur Cochet. First British yacht was ‘Mrytle’ – Dave Whitmarsh. The youngest competitor was Ali Gill on Buster. Carol also gave a ‘Super soaker’ to ‘Diomedes’ – Ed Osman as this was a youngish crew and their 1st Helford L’AberWrac’h race. Rob Hweitt, as he has done for many years, gave his speech proudly in French. The L’Aber Wrac’h Race has a proud tradition within the Club and is an excellent way to participate in a channel crossing in company in a friendly competitive way. Hopefully next year we can increase the numbers that take part.”
