A generally steady northerly, although a hole in the wind appeared at Turning Mark just as Morgawr got there (or at least that’s their excuse and they’re sticking to it). Great to see two guest crew on Morgawr – as part of an expended Push The Boat Out programme.

I write this towards the end of October and almost all of us have got our boats off their moorings, out of the water and safely tucked away in barns and boatyards for the winter. The nights are closing in and the season is almost over.
One of our members who sails a Contessa 26 is very interested in joining our Wednesday evening Yacht Race Series but would like some similar yachts to race against in addition to our current 707 competitors.
Please can we encourage anyone who has a similar yacht to join us on a Wednesday evening to make our racing more inclusive and varied. Please contact me on [email protected] if you are able to come along.
This year’s race got off in fine style on Saturday following a 24 hour postponement due to poor weather conditions. The delay meant the loss of some entrants owing to work commitments but on the day 16 boats started. The French contingent made the running but that old campaigner, Wally Royall (in his 90th year) was the first Helford boat to cross the line – congratulations Wally!
