To allow continuity for the 707 One Design racing series and to encourage new PY boats to race I have created a Combined Fleet super-series. We will keep the existing One Design series, but we’ll also have a Combined Fleet series that allows PY boats to race 707s (and each other) using the TCC / IRC handicapping system.
The TCC ratings were taken from various sources found online. Handicap can and will be updated over time as ratings become more accurate.
A breezy start to the Mid Summer series. Avocet had issues with an overpowered kite causing broaching and loss of position, but a lift on the last leg allowed them to get back past Dragun. Morgawr were two-handed and chose to go white sails only.
“Twenty five boats set out on Friday 24th June for L’Aber Wrac’h in a fresh SW breeze making for a fast crossing. The previous evening participating crews and members celebrated at the Champagne Reception where a good time was had by all. Crews received excellent hospitality on arrival in L’Aber Wrac’h and Carol Lawrence worked her magic in collating the results and prizes. Winning Boat ‘Farsteo’ – Monsieur Cochet. First British yacht was ‘Mrytle’ – Dave Whitmarsh. The youngest competitor was Ali Gill on Buster. Carol also gave a ‘Super soaker’ to ‘Diomedes’ – Ed Osman as this was a youngish crew and their 1st Helford L’AberWrac’h race. Rob Hweitt, as he has done for many years, gave his speech proudly in French. The L’Aber Wrac’h Race has a proud tradition within the Club and is an excellent way to participate in a channel crossing in company in a friendly competitive way. Hopefully next year we can increase the numbers that take part.” Clive Dudley Rear Commodore Sailing
