During these unusual times, the Committee are keen to enable you to use club dinghies at HRSC. The RYA have advised us to proceed with caution, so as a first step we have decided to make club dinghies available to the Adult Sailing Group.
It is with sadness that we report the passing of past Commodore Adrian Miller on 1st February. Although suffering from a long term illness he was ultimately a victim of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Adrian served as Commodore from 1998 until 2001, having previously served as Secretary and Vice Commodore.
During his first year he oversaw the club’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. The highlight was the Jubilee Regatta on the 6th June with races for allcomers. To compliment the celebrations Adrian produced the booklet “Helford River Sailing Club The first fifty years”, a general history of the club and clubhouse.
His second year saw the 40th anniversary of the annual race to L’Aber Wrac’h with over sixty boats taking part.
During his third year Adrian was instrumental in setting up the Charter of Friendship with L’Aber Wrac’h and Landeda. Copies of this Charter hang on the wall of the club and the wall of the Hotel de Ville in Landeda.
Adrian’s lasting legacy was at the time less noticeable, but has stood the test of time. He was keen to see the sailing facilities at the club improved and Adrian did a substantial amount of the groundwork and behind the scenes negotiations that resulted in the planning application for the dinghy park extension and the pontoons that we all enjoy today.
The club extends its sincerest condolences to his wife Pam and the rest of his family.

As the end of the season is fast approaching, I just wanted to send a quick reminder that we require all vessels to be removed from their moorings and the pontoon by Saturday 31st October 2020.

This year the Committee is making a special effort to increase the membership of the Club. In particular we will be encouraging local residents to join.
With this in mind we will be taking out Temporary Event Notices, otherwise known as TENS licences for particular events. A TENS licence will allow non-members to attend the Club and purchase alcohol without being signed in by a Member. In other words it means that during these events the Club will open to non-members.
The first of these events will be the Big Spring Party on Saturday 21st April. ‘The Soundcasters’, a popular band from Kent, already known to many locals having played previously many times at The Shipwrights, will be headlining. Our new stewards Alex and Patrizia will be serving internationally inspired street food.
From Saturday May 26th to Friday 1st June the Club will be open to non-members. This will be a great opportunity to promote the Club at the start of the season. It will allow non-members to experience what the Club has to offer both on the water and in the clubhouse during a whole week. On the Saturday they will be able to try the activities we are organising for the ‘RYA Push the Boat Out’ event. You will be hearing a lot more about this event.
Invite your friends and neighbours so they can experience the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of HRSC.
We will ensure that non-members are aware that parking in the Club car park is only available for Members.
