COMMODORE’S REPORT
What a fantastic season we have had at the sailing club, I would like to thank all the staff, committee members and people behind the scenes for all their hard work and commitment.
Join us on this Saturday, November 25th, for our Christmas Craft Fair. This festive event is dedicated to raising funds for the RNLI, a vital organization in our community and for our members.
Date and Time: November 25th, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Set up begins at 9:30 a.m.
At the fair, enjoy the holiday spirit with festive treats such as mulled wine, cider, minced pies, and our usual selection of HRSC bar snacks. Explore a diverse array of stalls offering something for everyone, including contributions from the RNLI. Christmas cards and calendars, handcrafted candles, textile tea towels, artwork, fabric books, cozy cushions, unique driftwood items, prints, greeting cards, beautifully knitted creations, hand-painted pebbles, exquisite jewelry, and more.
All stalls showcase the work of local artisans, highlighting the incredible creativity in our area. This is a wonderful opportunity to support and celebrate the talents of our local craftspeople. Importantly, every penny earned from table rentals will be donated to the RNLI, a cause we are genuinely passionate about. 😄
The Club slipway will be closed to all vehicles from 17.30 to 20.30 on Friday evenings from May to September. This is for the safety of our junior sailors.
Thank you for your co-operation.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Lawrence. It is very likely that a lot of current Members do not know of John’s huge input to the Club. …read more
Maija is a 50 year old Pioneer 10, owned by Chris Olsen. She races and does well in the HRSC Wednesday Evening Series.
Only three years ago, she was a boat yard derelict at Waldringfield in Suffolk. Her current owner got her seaworthy and with her current race crew was delivered to Gweek, where she was restored, mostly by Chris.
She performed well in the Falmouth Classics last year, but excelled herself this time around. As long as she does well in the forthcoming Fowey Classics, she stands in good stead to win her class and possibly “best boat” of the whole classic series.
Thank you Chris Newman for informing us of this fantastic story for the Helford sailing community
