Maija is a 50 year old Pioneer 10, owned by Chris Olsen. She races and does well in the HRSC Wednesday Evening Series.
Only three years ago, she was a boat yard derelict at Waldringfield in Suffolk. Her current owner got her seaworthy and with her current race crew was delivered to Gweek, where she was restored, mostly by Chris.
She performed well in the Falmouth Classics last year, but excelled herself this time around. As long as she does well in the forthcoming Fowey Classics, she stands in good stead to win her class and possibly “best boat” of the whole classic series.
Thank you Chris Newman for informing us of this fantastic story for the Helford sailing community
The Commodore and Committee would like to say a big ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who gave up their time to make yesterday’s Regatta Day so successful.
Those who contributed to the teas or helped to prepare, serve and clear them up. Those who drove the liberty boats to bring the racing crews to and from their boats. Those who put up and took down the marquee. Those who helped out with Regatta administration.
In fact everyone who was involved.
We do appreciate your help – thank you.
There is currently a vacancy on the Club Committee for a Captain Social. This position would be ideal for someone who likes organising and attending social events at the Club and can be very rewarding.
If you feel you would like to be involved in the running of your Club please contact Mark Buckley at [email protected] or email the Club office at [email protected].
